shaving tips

i wanted to share my best shaving tips with you guys because what’s worse than a razor rash? these tips can be used for when you’re shaving your legs, bikini area, or underarms. hopefully these tips will help reduce irritation and get you the best results.

pick the right razor – this is essential. i use Gillette Fusion men’s razor but the women’s Gillette Venus original razor works well and has an easy-to-grip handle that helps with precision.

exfoliate – this helps to lift your body hairs. you can do this with a gentle body scrub or loofah.

shaving cream – shaving cream exists for a reason and it’s because it provides a lot of moisture and the razor will glide across your skin. soap will block the blades of your razor. i like using Aveeno Therapeutic shave gel. there’s no added fragrance.

rinse the blade – in between each stroke, you want to run the blade under water so the razor doesn’t get clogged. this will help keep your blades sharp and protect your skin from irritation.

moisturize –  after shaving, use a non scented moisturizing lotion or oil. a really nice product to use is tend skin. coconut oil will work too.

water temperature – if the water is too hot, it will dry out your skin. warm to cool water works best.

shave at the end of your shower – this will allow your skin and hair to soften.

clean your blade in the end of your shave/keep in dry place – this will help your razor blades last longer. don’t get rid of your plastic guard. put your razor back in once you’re done.

change the blades of your razor regularly – toss out your razor after you’ve used it several times. a good rule of thumb would be when your razor blade seems dull.
