healthy hair care

these are some general things to practice to maintain healthy hair and how your hair looks. all of these things will help with good hair care. add these to your hair care regime.

shampoo and conditioner – the first step is to try to use a few good products. pick a shampoo and conditioner based on your individual hair. shampoo should be applied to the scalp primarily and only occasionally to the length of the hair. let the conditioner sit for at least 4 minutes. the number of times you wash your hair depends if your hair is dry or produces a lot of oils. 

hair massager or head/scalp massage – give your scalp a good rub. a hair massager helps stimulate and improve circulation which helps bring oxygen and nutrients to your hair follicles. this promotes healthy hair growth. use small, circular motions to improve scalp circulation.

hair brush – use a good hair brush to gently detangle your hair and keep your hair healthy and lustrous. 

hydrate – drinking enough water helps support hair growth from root to tip. it also helps prevent split ends and  brittle hair texture. 

silk pillowcase – protect your hair while you sleep! sleeping on a silk pillowcase has so many hair benefits. it’s less absorbent than cotton, so this means less dry hair. it helps minimize frizzy hair and retain moisture.  

clips and scrunchies – try to use clips and scrunchies over elastics to reduce breaking. you can sleep with your hair in a pineapple (high ponytail) and use a silk scrunchie. 

heat protectant spray – before you start styling, there’s an important step: use heat protectant

hair mask – try to do a hair mask every 7-10 days. this works wonders. i like to do hair masks the night before my hair wash day, so i even sleep with it. just remember to wash it out well otherwise it can leave your hair greasy. 

dyson – see if you can invest in a good blow dryer like dyson that uses a minimal amount of heat. it’s worth every penny. 

hair trim – there’s nothing like the fresh feel of fresh ends, it feels so good and healthy. 

wholesome foods – above all products, try to make sure you’re eating healthy. nourish yourself from the inside out.
